The Boosterthon Fun Run is vital to the programming at Poplar Bridge because it raises funds for our entire year's PTA budget!! Partner with the Boosterthon Team to facilitate the event, and serve as the school representative for Poplar Bridge.
Responsibilities and Timelines:
June-August: Reach out to local businesses regarding sponsorship opportunities.
August-October: Meet with the Boosterthon team ~5 times (virtual meetings on Zoom). Recruit volunteers for the Fun Run event.
Week of the Fun Run: Meet with the Boosterthon team for quick status calls.
Day of the Fun Run: Guide volunteers, cheer on students, and help the Boosterthon team with whatever is needed
Encourage a love of reading while raising funds for our Media Center! We host 2 book fairs every year. Assist with setup, take down, checkout, and reshelving books.
Create, plan and schedule events that foster connections within the school community and beyond.
The Community Engagement Chair is a member of the PTA Board.
Help recognize and celebrate teachers and staff at Poplar Bridge by planning activities for appreciation days and coordinating meals for teacher conferences.
VEAP is a basic needs and social services organization in Bloomington whose programs promote access to healthy foods, stable housing and other supportive services. This district-wide food drive helps VEAP stock their shelves for those in need.
The VEAP committee helps to encourage participation by setting the goal and theme for the year, and delivering donations to the food pantry. Paired with Spirit Week, this event is fun and impactful.
Organize the activities, supplies, and volunteers for this beloved event in the spring.
Organize, choose designs, and sell Poplar Bridge clothing throughout the school year. Help the Poplar Bridge community show their Polar Pride!
The Yearbook Committee captures and preserves precious moments of our little polar bears in action! Help gather pictures from the community, and then design, order, and distribute the yearbook!
Roles within the Yearbook Committee include:
Chair:
Manage the schedule, Set critical deadlines, provide updates to PTA as needed.
Schedule 2-3 yearbook meetings per year, assign pages, check in on progress.
Manage Entourage users – ensure volunteers have log in and password that works
Set up photo folders on Entourage website.
Share instructions for uploading photos with teachers/staff (digital and physical flyers) to encourage photo sharing for yearbook content.
Confirm the cost and number of pages with Entourage.
Lead Designer:
Pick yearbook theme, cover design, establish the outline for pages (“ladder”)
Create classroom "people page" template large enough for the largest class size.
Create a header and background for every page, consistent with the theme.
Request a Proof Book after design is complete for teachers/staff to review before books are printed.
Support Contributing Designers with questions or backup if needed. Share training resources from Entourage.
Editor:
Get class list from school secretary, confirm largest class size.
Get yearbook photos and index from Lifetouch and upload to Entourage.
Flow photos to each page – adjusting “people data” as needed to ensure staff and students flow to appropriate pages.
Check names against class list, and add names of "not pictured" students to each classroom page.
Collect final edits from teachers/staff (after they have reviewed the proof book) and carefully makes final changes. Mark pages are "approved" when complete.
Sales and Marketing:
Confirm pricing, Turn on online sales from Entourage website. Ensure link/QR code is working for ordering.
Create sales flyers and coordinate with staff/PTA to have them distributed to parents (paper copies sent home and digital flyers for email/social media).
Order books once Editor has approved, and coordinate with School Treasurer to make payment to Entourage.
Receive printed yearbooks to your home – sort and deliver them to the school.
Enable direct online orders after the last day of school for those who forgot to order.
Contributing Designers:
Assigned to specific pages and/or grades within the yearbook
Email teachers with questions or to request photos if we don't have enough.
Add photos to collages, add elements that go with the theme, double check student names, and generally make pages look fun.
Not ready to join the committee, but still want to help? Share your photos from classroom activities, celebrations, school projects, field trips and events. Send your photos to info@poplarbridgepta.com, and note the grade and teacher represented. (Note: Photos must be school-related activities on campus or on field trips only.)
The Student Directory Committee works at the beginning of the year to gather student information and create our student directory. This is an easy data entry volunteer opportunity that you can do from the comfort of your home, at whatever time works best for you!
BPFAC is a collaboration between parents from each of Bloomington's schools, School Board, teachers, principals and the superintendent. BPFAC meets monthly. This is a unique way to get the inside scoop on what's going on within our district.
Our BPFAC representative attends the BPFAC meetings as a representative for the Poplar Bridge PTA, takes notes, and shares back with the PTA what was discussed.
Share your design skills and help create eye-catching visuals to accompany our PTA communications (flyers, social media posts, etc).
The Communications Chair is a member of the PTA Board.
Coordinate our beloved event where students donate gently used books and swap them for new-to-them books! Help collect, sort, and redistribute the books to students.
